Poem
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown... If you would like to place a memorial for your Pug on the Rainbow Bridge page send an email with the memorial you would like written in the body of the e-mail and a jpeg picture as ana ttachemnt to the e-mail to pugluv@michiganpugrescue.com All memorials are welcome for Pugs

Sophie
Sophie was surrendered to the rescue in 2017, she was 7 years old. She went through a very difficult back surgery to have cyst removed from her spine. She had multiple MRI's, several vet visits and years of physical therapy. She was our first foster that went through water treadmill therapy! In addition to her weekly visits to PT, we set up PT exercises for her at home, which she did on a regular basis. All through her physical challenges she was quite the sassy pug! She kept all of her foster brothers in order and was quite vocal with everyone when she wanted or needed something or was just annoyed by those around her. She was a true gift to us and we're grateful to be able to continue her care as she became a permanent foster with the rescue. In her later years her myelopathy progressed and ultimately had very little use of her hind legs. This did not deter her sassy spirit, if anything she became more of a "pug princess"! We carried her all throughout the house and we got her a stroller for various outings and vacations! Sophie sadly passed on December 23rd, 2025, just a few weeks shy of her 16th birthday. She will be missed but will always have a special place in our home and hearts. Sharlene & Kyle

Chewy
Chewy may not have been a pug but he helped foster so many pug friends that he became part of the grumble. Chewy will always be remembered for his sassy sweet and goofy personality all stuffed into a tiny but adorable little body. He was adopted in May of 2020 and he passed away on December 21st, 2025. Although our time with him was way too short, his impact on us will last a lifetime.

Miss Scuito
Miss Scuito was born on January 1, 2010 and crossed the Rainbow Bridge on October 28, 2025. Miss Scuito passed away from natural causes on October 28, 2025 at home with her family surrounding her. She was 15 years 10 months and 28 days old. She was originally rescued thanks to her vet when she was brought in at 5 months and was an abuse case. The original owner said their big dog had stepped on her and that was how her leg was broken. The vet said she was likely thrown against a wall or kicked. When he told them the leg was shattered and could not be repaired they said to just euthanize her. The office manager of the practice convinced them to relinquish her to them and they contacted us. Even though she was a tripod as a result of the abuse it did not prevent her from being in charge of the household after being adopted by the founders of the rescue. Every Pug that entered the home she would go up to and put her ace in their ear as if she were telling them she was in charge and the rules of the home. She spent many days and evenings at Carson's Department store assisting in the sales of Community Day Books raising money for the rescue. When at the store in Howell she would go into the store prior to opening and interrupt the staff meeting by running up to each staff member to say good morning after which the meeting would continue. She participated in the annual Cancer Walks. We took a stroller for her but she had no part of it and would only walk. At home she would run around the back yard with the other Pugs. She will be missed. We expect to meet her again some day. Kathy and Larry

Clyde
Clyde was born on September 11, 2011 and crossed the bridge on November 1, 2025. He was part of a bonded pair with Louie. He was my strongest little Puglet. He endured so much but only gave love to me. He taught me the endurance of compassion and how to overcome difficult situations. God sent and returned to sender like blessed Louie. Justin
