After 4 months of ongoing treatment, Buddy has been cleared by the "Pug Luv" Veterinarian for adoption. The only ongoing care he will need is one tablet of Apoquel daily. His fur will continue to grow back in. If you are looking for a Pug that wants only to be loved and played with, he is the one for you!
This poor boy was brought to a Veterinary office in the Upper Peninsula to be euthanized because his owner was moving and did not want to take him with him. "Pug Luv" was contacted by the Veterinary office and asked if the owner signed a release, could he be taken into our program. He was brought up to date on his vaccines, neutered, had heart-worm blood and fecal testing and had his teeth cleaned. His name is Buddy, he is 4 years old, but it does not appear that he was really anyone's buddy based on his appearance. He suffers from severe skin issues, worms, bi-lateral ear infections and possibly flea allergies. The dark areas on his body are not dark fur but areas where there is no fur and it is his skin. His interaction with people does not appear that he had much love in his prior home. He will be treated by the "Pug Luv" vet for all of his conditions, placed in a foster home where ongoing treatment for all of his conditions will be done and shown what it is to be loved. Update 2/18/15: Skin biopsies have been sent to MSU for analysis. His skin is very thick and it appears that his body is working very hard to fight the skin condition he has. He is slightly anemic as a result. Once the skin biopsies have been analyzed a course of treatment will be done. Once all of his medical conditions are resolved he will be available for adoption. When you look at all of the pictures of me you will be able to see the progress my foster mom has made with my treatment. If you are interested in adopting Buddy or any of the Pugs currently residing with "Pug Luv' go to michiganpugrescue.com where you click on the Adopt tab to download, print, complete and mail in an application for adoption or you may make a donation to help with his care. His Veterinary bills have already exceeded $1,000.
