March 6th; When Dixie was schedule to be spayed and the growth on her neck removed she was also found to be pregnant with 3 puppies. Arrangements were made to have a c-section on or after March 6th. She was to be dropped of to the vet the afternoon of March 6th to be examined and determine when she would have the surgery. At 4 am on the 6th we heard a terrible scream and went in to find that she was in labor. She was rushed to emergency to have her c-section however she had already pushed one baby out and it was still born. At the emergency room they examined her and gave her the c-section. One puppy was extremely small and they were unable to save it. The other puppy was very large with a faint heartbeat. Unfortunately they were unable to save the last one. She was discharged at 2 pm with medications. She is very depressed and needs to be at your side continuously. She will be seen by our regular Veterinarian on Monday and a follow up posting will be done.
Dixie was rescued along with her 2 sisters and a brother from a woman who had fallen on hard times. She is almost 3 years old and had never been seen by a Veterinarian therefore needs a complete physical exam, her Rabies, DHPP, Lepto, Bordetella and Flu vaccines, heart worm testing and preventative, complete blood work, dental cleaning and extractions and to be spayed. She has bilateral ear infections that are being treated with meds and an antibiotic. She is housebroken, good with children, other dogs, cats and is in the process of being crate trained. Once all of her medical is completed she will be available for adoption.
