Banjo is one of the 15 Pugs Pug Luv rescued from a puppy mill. He is 6 months old.. He has been microchipped and has been neutered, vaccinated for Rabies, DHLLP, Bordetella, heart worm, fecal and blood tested. He has a significant amount of pigmentation on his eyes which is affecting his vision. The amount of pigmentation is equivalent to what a Pug at least 6 years old would have. He is being treated to dissolve the pigmentation with Tacrolimus drops twice a day. If there is not sufficient improvement when he is seen again near the end of October he will be referred to the Ophthalmologist. After his recheck appointment he has been referred to the Ophthalmologist. The Ophthalmologist examined Banjo which revealed he has the beginning of a cataract in one eye. This should not ever effect his sight. The other eye still has pigmentation, cloudiness and blood vessels in both eyes. He must remain on the Tacrolimus twice daily for an indefinite period of time. He must be seen by the Ophthalmologist again in six months to be revaluated. As is the case with dogs that come from a puppy mill they are not housebroken or socialized. Patience will be the utmost to acclimate them to human interaction so they can learn what it is to be cared about, loved and in a situation where they are not just used to produce puppies.
