Lady was surrendered to a local shelter. She is ~8 years old, spayed, up to date of Rabies, DHLLP, Bordetella, heart worm, fecal and blood testing. She was a plus-size girl, but has shed 13 pounds since being rescued and is now a healthy weight. She came in with a severe bladder infection and two large bladder stones that were causing her to urinate frequently. She was put on oral medication in an attempt to dissolve the stone but it did not work. She was able to lose enough weight to undergo surgery to remove the stones. Her potty problems went away after she fully recovered from surgery. The stones were sent out for analysis and came back as being caused by a liver problem. She was seen at the MSU Small Animal Veterinary Clinic to address the liver issue. She had a CT scan with dye administered. The test revealed she needed to have surgery for a liver shunt. The surgery was completed in July. She was placed on prescription food for her liver post-surgery, but it was causing her to vomit. She was tested to determine if she has a motility problem and it did not appear to be an issue. The vet switched her to a special food for sensitive stomachs and since then, she has not had any health issues. She will need to be on this special food for the remainder of her life. Lady is an extremely happy, goofy girl that is good with other dogs, likes children, and loves going on walks. Unfortunately, she hates cats and cannot go to a home with feline friends.
The Veterinary bills for Lady have now exceeded $8,000. If you can help by making a donation to assist with those bills, it will be appreciated.
